Recent Activities

November and December were really busy months with the end of our first DTS program and the holiday season. We grately appreciate your prayers and hope you enjoy these pictures from recent activities. Our baby girl should be with us very soon. The whole family is anxious to meet her!

These are the very special women in Rebecca's Bible Study in Phokeng. They are really growing in the Lord and their understanding of His Word. A friend of Rebecca's has taken over for a while so Rebecca can have the baby and start back in Febuary with the study.

The DTS students travelled to a village called Brakkuil about 2 hours north of Rustenburg for outreach. During the week they got to travel from house to house ministering to families, sharing the Gospel, and praying for all sorts of needs.

They days were really hot, so after the team visited families in the morning they prepared to teached in a tent for an evening service. Every student had an opportunity to share about the Lord.

They were also able to share with the children at the village school with skits and dramas. This area is very rural and visitors are rare. It was a great experience for the children as well as the DTS team.

About six weeks after this outreach, one of the local students from the DTS continued to minister in the area and brought this group of individuals to our home to be baptized. It was a really special time. Some in the group were new Christians and others have known the Lord many years, but never had the opportunity to be baptized.

The DTS students spent nearly 4 weeks on an island in the Indian Ocean continuing to do outreach. Derek said it felt like living in the TV show "Lost" because is was so green and because they ate so much fruit from the trees. Witchcraft is common practice in this country and the students spent a lot of time in prayer to prepare for each outreach opportunity.

The students were able to share their faith with many groups, almost all within church settings or organized by local churches of differing denominations.

The focus was to teach on intimacy, having a personal relationship with Christ, and learning to hear God's voice. We believe many individuals were encouraged to know God more deeply and make Him an active part of their life.

Rebecca and our baby girl were blessed beyond measure by members of First Baptist Church Katy. Two of the Sunday School classes had a "Shower in a Suitcase" and Rebecca's parents brought everything over to South Africa. Well as you can see it was not just one suitcase, but three! What a blessing this church has been to our family. Thank you to all the families who so graciously sent these presents. Our litle girl lacks for nothing. Thank you!

Rebecca's parents arrived in November to be with Rebecca while Derek was on outreach. We are so grateful that they have been able to be here for the holidays, the baby's birth, and both the boys birthdays. This was their first Christmas in Africa.
