The service was held on the front porch and in the garden at Hermina, Caroline, and Agnes' home and started at 6:30 am with a viewing of the body. Only family arrived at this time.
At 7 am the service started and various family members and close friends spoke about Hermina and shared their feelings about her life and death. Hermina's sister-in-law told the whole gathering how Agnes had prayed and testified for years, until at last Hermina accepted Christ as her own savior. From then on Hermina's faith grew in her relationship with God. Agnes asked me sit on the front row next to her and Caroline and I was one of the last ones to speak. It's incredible humbly to be put in that position and I hope I am a worthy friend to desire such respect and honor.
At 9:30 we went to the cemetery for a short graveside service where only one or two people spoke, but the atmosphere was of such praise, honoring of God and the life He had given Hermina.
At about 10:30 were were back at the house for a full meal which was prepared in advance by relatives and friends.
It is amazing to see how the family and community come together to honor the life of a loved one. Everyone has a role to play and gladly serves. What a beautiful day with a beautiful family!
