A deal was signed yesterday to end the striking that has been affecting thousands of people in the last month. Although the striking spread to others locations and companies, Lonmin agreed to a pay increase of between 11% and 22%, of which it has been said they were due to receive in the coming months anyway. The strike and tragic deaths have left many broken, wounded, and disillusioned and we are praying for healing to come to our nation. And healing in our city as believers gather together under the cause of Christ.
Miners in Marikana will start work tomorrow and we pray it will be a smooth transition for everyone. The last month has shown a massive disconnect between managers and workers and we pray that God will use that awareness to bring restoration and unity. We also pray for the miners across the country who are now asking the question, "who can we trust?"
God is on their side. We can trust in Jesus and know that He will fight for what is best for us, but we have to submit to His authority and accept His sacrifice for our lives. Please keep praying for peace in South Africa and that we will see the Kingdom of God reign here.
