Not too long ago we met another missionary family who we have known about for many years. They are Butch and Janet Berner who served the Lord in Livingstone, Zambia. They've been asking us to come up and visit for a while now and this winter seemed like the perfect time to make a quick trip across the border, make that 3 borders. This was an amazing trip for our family. Most significantly for me was to share with the kids another environment in Africa. Derek and I have both served the Lord in various African nations, but our children have only ever been in South Africa. They talk about America as 'home' because they hear Derek and I say it, but South Africa really is the only home they have had. My favourite part of the trip was sitting at the museum, drinking coke from the bottle, and talking about moving to Zambia. We didn't go there with any intention to move there and we have no leading from God to do so now, but to hear our children discuss how they would feel about it was an incredible blessing. They were totally willing. There were things that would be very hard for them and they were honest about it. There were things that would be a struggle for all of us and we talked about how we could make that work. But, above all else...the kids shared the same heart for missions that Derek and I have. They felt if the Lord told us to go that we would have to go. This was an awesome trip!! Thank you Butch and Janet for hosting this crazy crew.
