The DTS students spent 2 weeks in the Drakensburg on outreach this past month. During that time they helped to prepare another new YWAM base, were able to minister in a school, and have special prayer times for people in the community. One of the male students was asked to preach the morning service at a local church. He is only the second African to ever stand in that church's pulpit. This outreach brought the team closer together and broke through difficult walls in the hearts of some members of the community. Thank you YWAM Drakensburg for hosting us!
We are so blessed by the way in which this group loves and appreciates each other, even in their differences. We are really looking forward to the 5 week outreach coming up and are still praying about the location.
About a month ago, the students were finally able to put up a fence at one of the garden sites. We still need to put chicken wire over the top, but this is keeping the monkeys out for now. Thank you L&J for making this possible! The families are all still trying to figure out how to keep a garden. It's a good thing seeds are cheap. Once we can efficiently keep this going the fruits and vegetables will be huge asset to the community.
This past weekend we hosted a group of 12 adults from Hatfield Christian Church South. They spent one day at the Lighthouse Shelter playing with the children and reconstructing the jungle gym. The next day the held a morning children's service for the kids in Phokeng. We asked for "silly" and they gave it! The smiles on the kids faces had me grinning all day!
Even though it was a rainy weekend we had about 25 children show up for the ministry time. We are so grateful for this carport! It rained everyday last week, but because of the carport all the kids still got a meal everyday.
The church team had a special time of prayer for the children. Knowing these children as we do, this type of ministry is incredible for them. They need the prayers and the closeness and love offered to them is crucial. This team brought Jesus to them on Sunday and we are so thankful for their time and willingness to come to Rustenburg. Thank you Hatfield South!
Last week the Phokeng ladies Bible Study took a field trip to a local preschool run by one of the ladies in our group. We were able to sing songs and share Bible verses with the kids. This group of small children has been memorizing scripture and we are so excited to see that Word take root in their lives.
