Life on the base

One of the strengths of our base is a strong family atmosphere. The students and staff spend a lot of time in our home eating, playing games, and just hanging out. With our 3 small children and Matt and Angela’s 2 boys, there are always little ones running around. The students have a great time together and it gives the staff a lot of opportunity to speak into their lives.

Matt and Angela joined us this January and are settling in very well to South Africa. Their personalities and giftings are already a huge blessing to the base, our family, and our community. We look forward to the next 3 years of working together.
Our students hosted a braai at the base and invited several families to join them. Angela and Sarah from Canada. Matt teaching Moarabi how to shoot a basketball.
Sanel (in the orange t-shirt) is our single female staff member. She joined us last October to cook and help with staffing the house. She returned this January to help lead the current school, but intended to leave in April to join the Mercy Ships. After much prayer she has decided to stay with us until the end of 2008 and maybe longer. Sanel is wonderful with the students, has a beautiful personality, and loves the Lord deeply. We are thrilled to have here a bit longer!

This is a view from the mountain behind the base. The base is located at God's Window along the Rustenburg Kloof Mountain Range.

Hi Rebecca and Derek,
Is this Matt and Angela - Matt Meng from DTS and his wife? I think I remember his wife having that name, and that looks like him in the photo!!?? That's so cool if it's true.
How are things going for you guys? How are things for you and the base? Let me know prayer requests. We are going to Morocco instead of France!!! Looks like we're leaving this July or August!
We'll be living on the same continent. :)
Love and Peace in Christ to you.
