Violence on the Platinum Mines

This week a conflict has erupted between two unions at the Lonmine mine in Marikana. Much is being reported in the press from striking over wages to union breakdown to management and police negligence and all of it is throwing more fuel on the fire. Derek and I have relationships with people in this mine from management level to underground labor and the stress on everyone involved is at a peak.

I copied this photo from a friend in Colorado's facebook page. It's hard to imagine that the world is reading the news of what's happening here, but my heart is begging to know that means even more believers could be praying! Please pray for a peaceful end to this conflict. Pray that jobs will not be lost as workers are unable to get to work safely. Pray for the protection of all the men and women in work in this area. As of today at least 35 people have died and our hope is that not one more life would be lost to this violence. We need Jesus is this city and nation. We need His answers and His hope. Jesus, You are our Prince of Peace and we need what you have to offer. Oh Lord, please forgive our violence against one another and soften our hearts.
