Derby days

The kids have one day left of school holidays. In the last 2 weeks, they were with us for a workday in Phokeng and another at church as I helped organize resources for children's church. They've been shuffled back and forth as Derek and I head off in different directions for meetings and such. They've spent at day at Grandma and Oopsie's house and have played Phase 10 with me for hours. They've had play dates with friends, gone swimming, ridden bikes, and even helped me clean out the toy boxes. But today was probably the best of them all.

We spent the day with two of our church families on a farm about an hour from Rustenburg in a place called Derby. The adults did nothing but sit around and chat while the kids explored, climbed, ran, swam, hiked, laughed, scavenged, wrestled, and so much more. We are more grateful than words can express for our church family and to serve the Lord full time in this province and nation.  We've been in a spiritual battle lately that doesn't seem to be lessening any time soon and today was an incredible day of rest (a Sabbath rest) that has brought such a refreshing to our hearts. God is good!

Derby is a small town situated in North West Province of South Africa that was named
after the British Secretary of State Lord Derby. Derby began as a refuge for destitute people.
