South Africa needs peace

Today has been a gorgeous day filled with a swimming gala and a birthday party.  Normal life keeps going on, but turmoil is all around us. The strikes, the corruption, the unrest is never far from our minds. I sat next to a man today who's company called for a day of fasting and prayer for South Africa on Friday. Derek spent all day with several men from our church doing just that. The body of Christ is crying out and we are expectant of what God wants to do in all this. Please pray for peace in South Africa, asking God to protect us from potential war and greater strife.

News today is that 12,000 workers were laid off yesterday and another mine shaft has been shut down. The strikes against Anglo just keep going. The negotiations with Lonmin were finally settled in part by the South Africa Church body, but I read an article reporting that the organizations won't allow that again, saying that they don't like the precedent it sets.

South Africa needs Jesus. We need His love and grace. We need His forgiveness and His kindness.
