Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life...
Derek and I have had the incredible privilege of discipling others for many years now. It never fails to delight us both when someone we are walking with matures in the way of the Lord. Life is hard, but "this life", this life with Christ is worth it in every way!
This weekend I got a surprise! A couple we have walked with for a long time had a brand new dishwasher delivered to our house. I didn't grow up with a dishwasher and am giddy about having one but my heart is overwhelmed with emotion over the message that came with the gift: "Thank you Derek and Rebecca for all the time you have sacrificed for us. We wanted to do something that would give you some time back!!"
My heart doesn't really know how to absorb this gift. Walking with them, discipling them, praying for them has been our absolute pleasure. Seeing God move in their lives has brought aspects of God's character to the forefront for Derek and I in which we are humbled and amazed. God is so good. And getting a gift like this in return? That God would call us here to disciple, that He would use us in the lives of others, that this couple would give me such a sweet gift... I feel really blessed and totally unworthy.
