A week in Kenya

I'm heading to Kenya this week for an 8 day outreach in the Rift Valley. People have been asking where that is and last night I finally took some time to search out a map of the area. I've been told when you drive away from the airport in Nairobi that you see safari wildlife on the plains. I giggled at this because that's what everyone thinks should happen when they arrive in South Africa. This trip isn't about a safari for me. Although just as I am amazed with the beauty of South Africa I know Kenya will be breathtaking and I'm thrilled to see it. This trip is about redemption, reconciliation, restoration, freedom, life, roots, and so much more. I'm joining up with a team from The Village Church in Fort Worth as they share their recovery/discipleship program STEPS with Rift Valley Fellowship, a fairly new church plant in Kenya committed to teaching and living gospel community in the Rift Valley. I've heard so much about this discipleship method and feel God has appointed this time for me to gain as much knowledge and experience with it as possible. I feel like I'm going on an adventure to seek out treasure and bring it back for my city. Please pray with us for a safe and fruitful trip for me, for the team's impact on the Rift Valley through their testimony and God's perfect word, for my hubby and kids who get a week without mom in the house. We've been without water for 4 days and to wake up today with running water for the household was an answered prayer! Please pray the water continues to flow from the tap making life a little easier for my family. And please pray for me. I know God wants me to have this information not just for those I disciple, but for my own freedom in Him as well. Pray my heart is soft and receptive to whatever God wants to show me and that my life would display the restoration God promises us in Jesus Christ. Thank you!
