First Annual World Food Fair Vantage Point Church

The food fair was an overwhelming success!! We had an estimated 5000 visitors on Friday night sampling food from over 30 nations. I had more fun at our Texas Chili stall than I can possibly express. I also discovered that my man can rock a cowboy hat and western boots!! We sold over 7500 food tickets and that does not factor in the booklets of tickets our church distributed around the city prior to the event. This was not a fund raiser. This was a community connection event and connect with the community we did!! All week I've heard comments from people who attended and from those who wished that had. It was amazing to see so many people walking around with such delight and enjoyment on their faces and so happy with all the food!! What a privilege to be part of this event. Derek and I made the paper in the weeks prior to the event and we saw yesterday we made the front page again!! This time my friend Amy and I were caught in the act of eating, but our Texas stall was front and centre!! One of the winners of Master Chef South Africa judged all the food and my Texas Chili came in 2nd place!! Woohoo. Even clean up the next day was fun! We're so excited to bring this event to our city and can't wait to do it again next year. Thank you to everyone at First Baptist Church Katy who have been praying for us and cheering us on in this event. Thank you so much for the food parcel you sent with all the corn bread and chili mix. And thank you most of all for the sweet notes of encouragement. Much love from us!!
